Part 5, Part 6, Part 7

I just finished part 5: definitely the most action in one part so far!! My favorite part in this whole chapter was Audrey's letter to her husband about everything that happened with helping Bernadette escape and her change of heart. Even though it was such a 180˚ flip from who Audrey was at the beginning of the book, it still felt genuine. I think we can all understand what it's like to go down one road and become a bit obsessed before realizing the consequences of your actions. Or maybe just me? :)

Anyways, at the beginning of this section I was praying Soo Lin was full of it with the whole pregnancy thing. I didn't want to believe that Elgie would stoop so low. Obviously her "VAV" "WYP" letter explained how much of it was in her head, but it seems she actually IS pregnant. UGghghg

So.. onto Part 6, where Bee and Elgie are off to Antarctica to find Bernadette after her cruise ship disappearance!

OK, I actually finished the book almost two weeks ago now but haven't had a chance to get here to write. I really did love this book! Best one we've read in a while. I'm so happy that Bernadette found her happy place in Antarctica and was inspired architecturally again, and that the family will find new living space in Seattle.

I equated their unhappiness in their home with some of the emotional baggage that you see on that show Hoarders (forgive my horrid pop culture reference). Anyway, those people just get so overwhelmed and feel so helpless with their situation that they lose their will to live. I think that's what happened with Bernadette after the whole LA fiasco and moving to a run down house in a new city while watching her husband's career take off - I think she was just too overwhelmed and didn't know where to start to turn her life around so things just got worse and worse.

Still curious as to what exactly will become of Soo Lin's baby and all, but I guess that part was swept under the rug for now. I was a big fan of the classic happy ending in this book. Great pick!
