I ended up finishing the last third of the book in one sitting because I just wanted to be done with it. I have to admit that this section of the book was the most interesting. It sheds light on suicidal thoughts and the inner workings of facilities for mental illness. I was pretty horrified when Doctor Nolan told Esther that her first shock therapy treatment was done wrong. It made me think about all the experimental stuff that has happened in the past that would never happen today thanks to the laws that protect humans in their treatments.
But anyway, this is also the kind of book that I could change my mind about regarding how OTHER people feel about it. I'm curious to know what you all thought!
I really had to force myself to read this book. I found it pretty dull and slow but agree with Jhani in that the last section of the book was the most interesting. And what the heck happen after she had sex!! It never explained what went wrong and why she was bleeding so much. Or if it did I completely missed that part?
