Two quotes I really liked from this section of the book:

page 135: "...until I heard a knock at the door. 'Yes?' I said, but there was no reply, only the sound of footsteps retreating down the hallway. 'Someone's in here,' I called, though that was obvious. Someone was in here. It was me. I was here. I felt it in a way that I hadn't in ages: the me inside of me, occupying my spot in the fathomless Milky Way."

page 151: "One of the worst things about losing my mother at the age I did was how very much there was to regret."

I also loved the part about Strayed calling out to the fox as if it were her mom. After my dad died, a fox kept coming into the backyard at my mom's house and perching at the base of the tree we planted for him. My mom looked up information about foxes and found that the spirit animal of the fox is a family protector.
